I think the idea of repetition is a powerful idea, especially, if the aspect of recursiveness is emphasized. This applies to math equations, academic writing and most stuff in our World. We repeat things and build upon the previous repetitions.

I think teaching similes or metaphors with engaging visuals would also work well.
